8:35 am12:30 pm

A VIRTUAL Event in TWO Half-Days!
Wednesday, May 4, from 12:00 – 3:45 pm and Wednesday, May 18, from 8:45 am – 12:30 pm

We are excited to announce that this year’s educational conference will be held virtually and offered over two half-days this year!

While this event will be presented in a different format from previous years, it is still a great opportunity for peers, advocates, family members and mental health professionals to gather together safely to learn about available resources and services, hear lived experience stories of recovery and hope, get information about the latest research in mental health, and shine a spotlight on mental illness.

Over the course of the two half days, we will feature an amazing lineup of locally and nationally-known speakers discussing a variety of timely topics.

Registration is $25 for NAMI Vermont Members, $45 for Non-Members, and will include recordings for all speakers (except Kevin Hines). Scholarships are available for anyone who might need assistance with the registration fee. CEUs for LCMHCs and Social Workers are pending and will be offered at no additional fee this year.

This year’s speakers will include:

May 4, 2022

Bessel van der Kolk, MD – A clinician, researcher, author, and teacher who has spent his career studying how children and adults adapt to traumatic experiences.

Catherine Burns, PhD – Licensed Psychologist Doctorate, and Quality Consultant for Vermont Care Partners, will talk about Compassion Fatigue.

May 18, 2022

Kevin Hines – Activist, public speaker and author/filmmaker of the documentary “Suicide: the Ripple Effect” will share his personal story about surviving a suicide attempt off the Golden Gate Bridge. (This presentation will be offered live only).

Panel Discussion on Reimagining Crisis Intervention – This panel will include Mourning Fox, Vermont Department of Public Safety Director of Mental Health, Terri Lavely, Northeast Kingdom Human Services, Training, Development and Advancement, and Gloria van den Berg, Executive Director of Alyssum.

A recording will be available and emailed to all registered participants after our event for each of our speakers, with the exception of Kevin Hines’ presentation.
